Rules

General:

Rocks N Clocks provides a ROUTE/START/FINISH and tabulation of results. Nothing more.

Self-supported backcountry riding has many hazards, please bring food, water, cell phone, tell people where you are going and when you expect to return.

Do not ride alone. Bring a friend (or foe) and this will help muster up a little bit of competition and result in faster times and a safer riding experience.

Follow all rules of the particular trail system and keep an eye out for hikers, horses, and fellow riders.

You must complete the course under your own power.

You may log as many attempts as you want.

Group rides and partners are allowed and highly recommended, see below for timing a group.

Courses:

Each course has a very detailed ROUTE/START/FINISH. These must be followed as if participating in any other sanctioned race.

You must follow the official route provided in the .GPX of each course. Study and learn the course. This is the key to a level playing field and the key to faster times.

If you deviate from the course due to navigational errors, you must reenter the course at or before the deviation point. You may not use a navigational error to advance on the course. You may not stop the timer due to a deviation. Once again, learn the course.

You must complete the course from START to FINISH. Partial attempts will be entered as unofficial times.

The START/FINISH point will be specified on the course page. Very specific START/FINISH points are denoted to maintain a level playing field and to eliminate errors. A map and a pictures are provided with each course. A landmark highlighted in GREEN will denote the START. A landmark highlighted in RED will denote the FINISH.

Timing:

You must use a GPS/bike computer/stopwatch/chronograph to record your time. No hand waving/sundials/gut feelings. Hard numbers only. Results are scored based upon hh:mm:ss.

If your time is a record breaking time you may need to provide a GPS track for verification. Initial course times will not need GPS verification.

You must START/STOP your timer while touching the START/FINISH point. Anything attached to you or your bike may touch the START/FINISH point: tire, hand, foot, head, you get the idea.

You must START/STOP your timer while stationary–NO rolling starts/finishes.

If timing a group then the leader must start timing at START and then the leader should wait until all members of group have touched FINISH for the group’s time.

Time for record is TOTAL time from START to FINISH. This includes eating, resting, repairing, crash recovery, etc.

Results:

Please give your first and last name, your time in hh:mm:ss, and a valid e-mail. You may optionally provide a ride story, shout out to a bro, trash talk, or excuse as to why you were so slow or so fast.

Attempts will be made to roll the results into many different ways.

Please use the same e-mail address for all submissions. This will help us organize results and category standings.

Please allow a bit for your time to be approved.
