Went to ride in the Laie area. It ended up being a long, endless hill climb that people seem to ride motos at. The vegetation was as sundry as ever, but I scouted some weird secret trails and had a good hustle getting to the top. The descent was extremely fast and I was all smiles. The top of the trail cut through a Kona berry patch and was fairly challenging riding through it, given the narrowness of the trail.
Ride again? Yes, just for the amazing views and the killer workout.
- Riding through a banana forest, impossible to bonk around these parts.
- The trail dropped down, got dark, and huge dinasaur plants started showing up. The yucca-looking things were like 20ft tall.
- Typical trail conditions for this area: wide, easy.
- Salt cedar needles a 1/2 ft thick, like riding on a… cloud?
- View from almost at the top of the Laie hills.
- The sun was going in and out of the clouds making different parts of the forests illuminate
- Are these Kona Berries?
- In case you ever wondered what happens to a rogue coconut. Even weirder, did not see where it came from, perhaps it was carried?
- Konda Berry tunnel, narrower than handlebars.
- Sometimes the tunnel would widen to allow a quick spin.
- Eventually it got so dark and thick, I ditched the bike to hike the rest of the trail.
- At the summit of the Laie hills
- Start of my sweet red-dirt descent
